Wang Thai now features their award winning offering at the V & A Waterfront
Cape Town: 1st July 2008: South Africa’s award winning Thai restaurant group, Wang Thai, now also features a presence at the prestigious and much visited V & A Waterfront offering Capetonians a variety of modern and traditional royal Thai cuisine.
Targeted at discerning diners with an eye for décor style, a taste for cuisine excellence and expectations of nothing less than uncompromising levels of service, Wang Thai offers a superlative dining experience. This 120-seater restaurant is situated in the heart of the Waterfront with views of the working harbour and front row seats overlooking Table Mountain. The interior is beautifully appointed in authentic Thai style décor and adorned with traditional wooden carvings and intricate objects of royal artwork. The super sleek interior incorporates natural woods and brown suede upholstery with contemporary Thai sculptures. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and due to it’s close proximity to the water there’s an airy feel to the dining area that oozes calmness.
Only the freshest ingredients, imported directly from Wang Thai’s exclusive suppliers in Thailand, make their way into Executive Chef Sumetee’s kitchen where guests can be entertained by watching the masterful chefs prepare to spoil them with their creations through the screened display kitchen glass.
The new Wang Thai’s menu is a culinary delight with offerings of delicious starters such as the ever popular and tantalisingly spicy Tom-Yum soup or the light and delicate duck, vegetable or prawn spring rolls with sweet chilli, plum or peanut sauce and not forgetting the Chicken Satay skewers.
The starters will leave you wanting more and the perfect portions allow you the space to enjoy the main course. For mains, diners can choose from a superb selection of fresh traditional Thai dishes to suit every tastebud, including a whole host of vegetarian options, sushi, seafood and delectable noodle dishes. Try the firm traditional favourite of Green or Red Curry or for a delicious blend of flavours the Angry Duck, or be sure to sample the Fried Fish with Chilli for the more adventurous.
The official Grand Opening of Wang Thai took place on the 24th June with His Excellency Ambassador Domdej Bunnag officiating at a ribbon cutting event. |
